This website has been created as a resource for you to reference as you complete various assignments and projects in Digital Media Marketing (along with the class Edmodo site). I taught Digital Media Marketing for the first time in Spring 2015 to Juniors in the Marketing program here at ACTC, and this website includes many of their videos. The course introduces you to the process of content creation in a fun, project-oriented way. You'll learn core video concepts: visual storytelling, shot styles, composition, storyboarding, camera use, digital sound, lighting, editing, and exporting. Then you will complete a variety hands-on projects as you learn to create different types of promotional videos such as a public service announcement and a commercial.
The purpose of the class isn't to make you a cinematographer. Rather, the purpose is to teach you the skills needed to create business and marketing videos. All videos created in Spring 2015 were created with iPads and Windows Movie Maker. This year we will expand to add video cameras and additional editing software. Additional projects will also be included and may include the following: product demos, company overviews, customer testimonials, man-in-the-street interviews, screencasts, instructional videos, video press releases, recruitment videos, employee orientation videos, and animated cartoon videos. If you have suggestions for other uses of business video, please let me know. I may be able to incorporate them into projects or you may be able to use your ideas for your final project.
Hopefully, this website will serve as inspiration as you create your own videos. We will also use the videos here to promote a discussion about "quality" work as we evaluate videos on this website against grading rubrics. The videos you see here are not perfect videos. Some are excellent, some are average, and others lack the planning and execution to make them exceptional videos. However, we can learn from all of them.
